Dog Day Afternoon

The Bourbonnais Township Park District knows how important dogs are to their families and this special event is just for them.

Booths with all the experts will be available to answer any questions you might have about your dog.

Prizes, raffles, free gifts, and doggie treats of all kinds will be on hand for your dog. There will be games and activities of all sorts for you and your dog to participate in. Don’t miss out on some of our event favorites such as the Dog Costume Contest, Best trick Contest, Dog Park Play/agility Area and the Doggie Treat Hunt. 

Ages: All ages are welcome, children must be accompanied by an adult.
Dates: Sunday, May 20, 2018
Times: 11:00-2:00 p.m. (due to forecasted rains, the event will open at 11am on Sunday)
Location: Willowhaven Park & Nature Center, 1451 N 4000 E Rd
Kankakee, IL 60914
Fee: $2 per person and dogs get in free!

Rules

All dogs must be controlled on a leash six feet long or less. Retractable leashes are allowed as long as they are locked at six feet or less. Dogs do not have to be on leash inside of dog park.

All animal waste must be pick-up and disposed of in a waste receptacle. Plastic baggies are available at no charge at the event front gate as well as at the Dog Park Entrance

All dogs must be healthy and up to date on shots to participate at Dog Day Afternoon.  

Unruly or aggressive dogs will be asked to leave the park.

Please remember to comply with the park's mandatory leash law outside of the Dog Park and waste removal rules.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Children are not allowed inside of the Dog Park.

Dog Day Raffle

While you are at Dog Day Afternoon please stop by the raffle table next to the demo area. Every year we get fun dog related items that we raffle off. Raffle tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.

Winners do not need to be present to win and winners will be picked throughout the event; all prizes must be picked up at Dog Day by 3:00 pm or prizes will be available for pick-up at:

Willowhaven Nature Center
Tuesday-Friday between the hours of 9:00 am- 4:00 pm
1st and 3rd weekends of the month - Saturdays 9am-4pm, Sundays 12-4pm.

Demonstrations, Games, and Events

11 am - 2pm - Face Painting- Bradley Animal Hospital booth

11:00 am - Doggie Costume Contest - Demo Area

12:00 pm - Best Trick Contest- Demo Area

1:00 pm -  K9 Demonstrations

1:45 pm - The Great Doggie Treat Hunt at East Field

Event times are subject to change. All contests are open to the public and registrations are taken at the Raffle/Registration tent next to the demonstration area the day of the event. Costume Contest and Best Trick Contests have 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place awards. Costume contest as additonal prizes for special categories including funniest, cutest and best duo or group costumes.

Family Fishing Derby is Saturday, June 16th at 9am the Willowhaven Nature Center. Onsite registration is available beginign at 8:30 or sign up online and save $3 on registration!
